President's MessageDecember 2023
This time of year always feels like an interim time for TCEP, but in reality our organization never slows down and is always moving full steam ahead. Our new executive director Jill Sutton is settling into her role and is proving to be a tremendous asset for our college. She has had the opportunity to visit and meet numerous ACEP staff at their headquarters in Irving as well as current and past TCEP leaders, partake in a residency visit in Dallas, as well as our October board meeting, and worked diligently on the announced closure of the Corpus Christus emergency medicine residency program. To say she hit the ground running is an understatement. We are thrilled to share the exciting news that the planned closure of the EM program in Corpus Christi has been successfully reversed! Funding was secured and safeguards have been put into place to protect against future closure. This achievement marks a significant milestone, as it is believed to be the first time a program closure has been reversed. We are immensely proud to have contributed to the positive outcome as an organization. The recruitment process for the 2024 PGY-1 class is in full swing, with interviews scheduled to commence this month. Please let all interested 4th year medical students know. TCEP Connect 2024 is less than 4 months away and we have been diligently working to make the weekend an amazing 50th anniversary celebration for TCEP. We hope you can join us in Lake Conroe April 19-21, 2024, for an exciting educational and networking event. But first, we invite you to our board of directors meeting in Houston on January 19, 2024. I look forward to seeing you there. Happy Holidays to all! |
