2020 TCEP Board of Directors Nominee
1. Please provide us with your Medical School and graduation date. Also include your current positions held with a brief description of your duties. University of Texas Southwestern Medical School 5/31/1992. I am currently the Board of Directors Treasurer of TCEP. As treasurer, I am responsible for the financial accountability of the college. I am ultimately responsible for the budget and financial reporting of the college. 2. Tell us about your involvement in TCEP. I currently am on the Free Standing Section of ACEP. However, I have been more active with TCEP. I have served as the Chairman of the Free Standing Committee prior to being elected to the board of directors. I am currently the director of the Emergency Medicine residency visits. I also am the Director of the EM resident competition called the OlEMpics that is put on every year at TCEP Connect. I have recently been the board liason to the TCEP marketing committee. At our board retreat, I was blessed to have the opportunity to lead our team building session. 3. Convey to us your goals as a Director and what you see as the pressing issues facing Emergency Physicians in the next three years. The landscape of EM is changing in Texas. The market cycle and failure of many free standing EDs has caused a massive over-supply of EM physicians in Texas. TCEP has to dynamically change to help our membership in this new job market. The attack on EM by insurance companies will only increase in the next 3 years. As the only voice in Austin representing our membership and patient needs, we need to rise to the challenge. 4. Please provide a brief description of family, community and professional activities, and hobbies. I want to play every sport before I die. I have 4 children with many different interests. It is enjoyable for me to play guitar in my church’s praise band with my son leading the way as a “bad to the bone” drummer. |
